You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so when it comes to selling your property, make sure it shows its best. Potential buyers are hoping to be inspired, not distracted, by sweaty sports gear, piles of laundry, dustballs tumbling across your floor, clogs of hair in the bathroom sink or smell of bathroom or cooking odours. Here are a few easy tips to help create the best possible impression of your home ready for showings.

A breath of fresh air

Ensure your home is odour-free, you might not reconize them, but odours from pets, mildew or smoke can be a turnoff.

An overwhelming smell of incense or perfume can be just as offensive as that of foul odours.

Use an air cleaner to effectively eliminate annoying houshold odours.

Take out the garbage, it can quickly become an unpleasant smell.

Do yor Laundry, nobody likes sweaty, smelly clothes.

Bath time

Stock bathrooms with fresh towels.

Make sure to clean the bathroom, a dirty bathtub or sink can make buyers feel unwelcome.

A clean slate

Sweep the floors, make sure there's no dust-bunnies on the loose.

Clean the windows, the added natural light will make your house seem brighter and more inviting.

Organize your clutter, a well organized room will seem more spacious.

The outside

Make sure the flower beds are kept up, free of weeds and that the lawn is cut.

Pick up and put away any outside clutter, kids toys, yard equipment etc not being used and that pathways are clear.

Make sure out buildings, sheds etc are in good repair, paint if necessary.

During the winters months make sure driveways, parthways, steps, decks are free of snow and ice for safety and visual and accessability.

If you have an acreage or larger parcel of land make sure your boundries are clearly marked.

First impressions create lastings memories. By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your home makes a lasting positive impression on buyers and ultimately, your wallet.
